At The Mount Senior School, the lessons we teach are only part of the curriculum. There is a vast array of opportunities to become involved in Activities, Sports, The Performing Arts and Community Service.

Co-curricular activities enable girls to try new experiences, develop their interests and skills and most importantly have fun with their friends.

We believe these valuable opportunities enrich our girls lives at school and beyond.  We encourage girls to give everything a go!

Performing & Creative Arts

The Performing and Creative arts provide girls with a medium for self-expression, passion and emotion encouraging them to challenge themselves.

Musically, pupils are spoilt for choice girls can to join choirs, vocal groups, orchestra, wind band, swing band and many other musical groups. Concerts take place throughout the school year onsite school and in a range of breath-taking venues including York Minster and Duncombe Park.

All girls enjoy the opportunity to participate in dance and drama. Girls at The Mount are no stranger sto the stage and regularly perform in drama shows, musicals and showcases.  Our girls can also join drama classes and take LAMDA exams.

Girls’ artistic creativity is not confined to the classroom. Our passionate art teachers,  Artist in Residence and Design Technology teachers run a variety of activities including: art masterclasses, art trips, textile workshops, photography and jewellery making.

Sports

A plethora of sporting activities are open to our girls. It is our ambition to inspire every pupil’s interests in sport, from complete beginners to aspiring athletes. Sporting activities at The Mount include Netball, Hockey, Tennis, Rounders, Swimming, Tag Rugby and Athletics. Competitive matches are arranged with other local schools as well as entering teams in regional and national competitions. Pupils are also given the opportunity to participate in sport camps.  In July 2017 girls visited Greece to attend an international swimming and netball camp.

After school activities take place every day

Girls in The Senior School usually choose two or three activities to take part in each week.  The list of activities is varied and changes each term allowing each girl to find activities they enjoy.
