Assessment
At the Mount Junior School we use assessment as a means to an end. We assess all the children regularly and systematically track their progress to ensure our teaching is meeting their needs.
Every term, children are assessed in reading, writing and numeracy. The results provide the information for teachers to focus their efforts on problem areas, stretch children further or identify where small groups or learning support can help.
Assessment is very much part of school experience for the children. It is introduced sympathetically to ensure it is neither stressful nor threatening. Sometimes they do not even know they are being assessed and sometimes tests can be fun!
