Specialist Teaching
All our class teachers are fully qualified and have a good general knowledge across the curriculum. For some subjects, we bring in specialist teachers to develop the children’s skills and knowledge in their particular areas.
When French and Music take place from the Nursery upwards, these sessions are taken by subject specialists. Specialist teachers also take gym and swimming from Reception, and other sports from Year 1.
German is introduced, alongside the French lessons, in Year 3 and is taught by a specialist German teacher. Specialist teachers from our Senior School support the teaching of literacy and numeracy in Years 5 and 6.
ICT is taught by a specialist teacher in years 5 and 6. Lessons are deigned to build basic skills in the use of different software, and where possible, support the topics and projects that the children are studying with their class teacher.
Children benefit not only from the teachers’ in-depth knowledge of their subjects but also from experiencing and relating to different teaching styles and teachers.
