Music
Music plays an important role in the life of the school and girls are encouraged to take up instruments, join orchestras and ensembles, sing and perform.
In Years 7 to 9, the girls have weekly lessons during which they encounter music ranging from classical to blues, and television sound tracks to rhythms from around the world. The multi-cultural content suits the multi-cultural nature of The Mount and makes the subject varied, accessible and exciting.

These lessons are also laying the foundations for work at GCSE and A-Level, and the girls start composing early on. In Year 8, for example, they have written a Blues performance and in Year 9 a Musical.

Performance is an important part of the A-Level exam and girls gain many opportunities throughout their time at The Mount to participate in formal and informal concerts and events. These take place in School as well as at local venues including The Minster.
