Biology

The subject is taught by two subjects specialists who encourage the students to extend their knowledge and experiences beyond the class room.

The Conservation Club with its pond provides students with an opportunity to improve Biodiversity in the school grounds.

Within the Department we have notice boards with “Biology in the News” to which both staff and students contribute articles of recent Biological developments.

At key stage 3 there are visits to an Apiarist and to the Thackray Medical museum in Leeds. We offer the chance to participate in an annual MiSAC poster competition and the on line Biology Challenge for both key stage 3 and 4.

College participate in a compulsory field trip and a visit to the Imaging and Cytology Department at York University They are also encouraged to join us for lectures run by the University, Café Scienfique and the Society of Biology.
