Come and Stay
If you are planning to be a Mountie in Years 7-11 or at College, come and stay a night or two and learn from the inside how it feels to live in our community. The girls are always pleased to look after visitors and will tell you, with no frills, how it is for them. Our Registrar, Julia Hampshire will coordinate your stay, whether it’s at a weekend or during the school week, and we will be delighted to have you. ‘Tasters’ provide the perfect opportunity to settle in and get to know faces and places before you arrive as a fully-fledged boarder at the start of term. It may be that you plan to flexi-board and would like to check out the accommodation before you do so – or, and it’s fine by us, you might simply want to get a sense of the school through staying with the boarders, and, we would say, what better way?!
Flexi-Boarding Options
The doors of School House are always open to Mount School day girls and we have been pleased to offer two free nights this year for each girl in Years 7 – 11. Both day girls and boarders benefit from the increased sense of community that this opportunity provides and the experience has led to a number of girls flexi-boarding on a regular basis.
Two free nights are offered to each girl and are staggered as follows:
Autumn Term 10 and 11
Spring Term 8 and 9
Summer Term 7
Beyond your free nights flexible boarding places are otherwise offered at the usual rate on a first-come first-served basis. Arrangements may be made directly with the Housemistresses: npentelow@mount.n-yorks.sch.uk
Some girls choose to flexi board regularly and become part of the House community, where possible with beds reserved specifically for them. They are included in all celebrations and events and receive House reports. Whether your stay is one-off or the beginning of something more long-term, you will always be considered part of the School House family.
Year 6 Taster Weekends and Taster Stays for Prospective Mount Girls
For girls hoping to come to The Mount for Year 7 these Taster Weekends are scheduled throughout the school calendar and are an opportunity for small groups of girls currently in Year 6 to try out Boarding. Please refer to the Calendar for dates or contact the school’s Registrar for further details.
Older girls considering The Mount are welcome to arrange to stay for one or more nights to get to know us better.
