Principal's Welcome

Quakers were pioneers in girls' education and we have been educating girls here at The Mount since 1785.  We believe that every child is unique and that the purpose of education is to unlock the potential within.  Our community is diverse and we welcome children from all faiths and of no faith. Together, the girls share in the opportunity to discover their gifts and to become independent thinkers.

The ethos and curriculum of The Mount exist to promote the Quaker values of peace, equality and social justice.  In our position as a successful and well-resourced community, we place great emphasis on service to others.

Academic results are important; we are especially pleased with the girls' outstanding grades at GCSE and A level, evident in the fact that we are comfortably placed in the infamous league tables.  Whilst grades are important, particularly  so with the introduction of the new A* grade at A level, we also celebrate achievement across a broad range of extra curricular activities.  Sport, Music, and the Arts, provide opportunities for the girls to develop their individual strengths and talents within the school and also at County and National level. By focusing on others in the community and by participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, we work with each girl to ensure she is enabled to fulfil her personal, social and academic potential and have the results she needs, not only for the next steps in her education but also in life.

The Mount provides an environment in which girls are listened to and encouraged to seek the strength to speak their minds and challenge injustice when they see it. Our girls are equipped with the skills to shape their own futures.  They grow at their own pace, free from pressure to conform to stereotypes; their self-confidence grows, they are happy and happy children learn.

Words can only give you part of the picture; come and see for yourself how the Mount School lives up to its claim of catering for the holistic well-being of each of our girls.

A very warm welcome awaits you and your daughter at the Mount
