Sociology is offered as an A-Level option. The course is taught primarily through discussions, instruction and film, emphasising the relevance of personal experience and everyday situations.
Documentary, drama and news events are used to encourage students to make their own observations about the social world and how they come to terms with it.
Modules cover the family, researching issues in education, and belief systems in society. These are all subjects the girls can relate to, enabling them to draw on their own knowledge and experiences.
The result is lively lessons full of debate and discussion. The girls learn to argue cogently and draw on data to support their position. They develop their ability to organise material and articulate written arguments with clarity.
