Bake Off!

The annual Great Mountie Bake Off raised over £600 for Children In Need. There were over 50 entries from throughout the school and the judges had a very difficult (but delicious!) time deciding in a blind test which were the winning entries. Each entry earned a point for the girls’ House.

Well done to everyone on some fantastic entries! And thank you to all who baked, bid, bought and ate their way through these sumptuous treats.

Large Cake – Senior: Lucky (Y9). Large, multi-tiered chocolate cake – Fantastic effort on appearance and nice to see the handmade chocolate skills. The taste was very nice – over all a fantastic cake and could be a nice design for an original wedding cake.

Junior: Asta (Y6). Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cake -A nicely presented cake which has good texture and flavour with hints of orange. Also, an excellent representation of York’s Historic chocolate history.

Small Cakes – 1st Milly (Y6). Polar Bear cakes – Great effort – The cakes looked great and were all very neat and uniform (similar in design). The sponge was light with a great texture and a delicious flavour.

2nd Conny (EYFS) Snow Scene Cakes – The cakes looked really nice with Individual designs. Showed a lot of effort and the sponge was light and tasty.

Magical Cakes – 1st Amelia (Y5). Fabulous effort with the decoration – especially the unicorn and the waterfall and the extra magical touch from the lights. The cake was also deliciously tasty.

2nd Louise (Y3) Beautiful presentation with the individual leaves, giving the dress a lovely texture. The cake was delicious and moist with a lovely raspberry flavour throughout it.

Biscuits/Cookies – Senior: Molly M (Y7) Penguin Cookies – Looked great and involved a good effort – used 2 colour/flavours of biscuit for the body and great piping of the wings and features. Tasty flavour and good texture.

Biscuits/Cookies – Junior: Amelia (Y6) and Phoebe (Y3) Shaun the Sheep biscuits – Good design and presentation. Very neat and tasty biscuits.

Free-From – Senior Lucy (Y7) Winter wonderland Cake – Lovely presentation and good effort. A tasty cake without being too sweet

Junior Caroline (Y1) Reindeer pots –A lot of effort to make each one look like a reindeer and also in making sure each marshmallow nose was pink! A little messy to eat but clearly child made and tasted delicious!
