Join North Yorkshire’s leading girls’ school for A Level results as The Mount holds its Open Evening for the Senior School and Sixth Form on Friday 9th of March.
North Yorkshire’s Leading Girls’ School For A Levels 2017
The Mount School York is again North Yorkshire’s leading girls’ schools for A Level results in league tables published by the government in January. These confirm earlier league tables, published by the Sunday Times in November, which showed the all-girl Quaker senior school is truly a leading light in girls’ education. Tables published by the Telegraph put The Mount at the top of York’s city schools for A-Level results.
The Mount achieved a respectable 41.58 average point score per entry at A Level, and, at GCSE, upheld an astonishing 63.1 average attainment 8 score per pupil. The Good Schools Guide defines average point score per entry is “an indication of the average points achieved at an institution”. The AQA examination board explains that the average attainment 8 score per pupil measures a pupil’s average grade across eight subjects.
Principal Adrienne Richmond said, “The Mount has a well-earned reputation for seeing girls successfully on to high-ranking universities and their chosen career paths. Examinations are important, but we also provide each girl with a balanced environment in which she feels safe to explore ideas, and crucially, to make mistakes. In this space girls, are able to grow at their own pace and develop a true love of learning; fearless and full of wonder.”
Head of Sixth Form, Wendy Thompson, added, “Being at a smaller school means that our girls enjoy exceptional, bespoke guidance with their UCAS applications. They are able to hone their skills during the two A Level years to achieve the best results they can, and accept places at their first choice universities. There is no ‘typical’ path, displayed by the broad range of our recent university courses and destinations; what we offer at The Mount is truly bespoke to each girl.”
The Mount headed local league tables for A-Level results in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
