PeaceJam girls join YorKits

A group of PeaceJam girls joined approximately 100 volunteers in York Minster to take part in a YorKits Workshop.

YorKits is a “hands-on” project by York Rotary which involves volunteers coming together to make washable, easy to use, feminine hygiene kits for girls in developing countries. In many developing countries, due to poverty, many girls have no feminine hygiene provision and find themselves unable to go to school while they are menstruating, therefore missing large parts of education.

This workshop was embraced by our students who were superb ambassadors for The Mount.

There will be another YorKits workshop at Copmanthorpe Methodist Church Saturday 14 March, 9.30am-12.00 where members of the public can join in to create kits that will be sent to girls and women in third world countries. No sewing experience is needed! There are many tasks which everyone can get involved in and, in the wake of International Women’s Day 2020 it might be a project that you feel is worth giving supporting.
