Post Parkrun Celebrations

The first parkrun for the Mount School York parkrun Team was a resounding success. Last weekend, pupils from across the year groups joined members of staff, families and their four-legged friends to take part in the weekly community run held at the Knavesmire. 

The exciting opportunity is a welcome addition to the already jam-packed PE calendar and will once a month allow school pupils to participate in a wholesome activity alongside family members and friends.  

Parkrun events are held around the world and welcome all abilities to take part for free. Going at your own pace, you can run, jog or walk the 5 kilometres in a friendly and supportive environment, with no time limitations. 

The Mount School parkrun team will gather at school on the first Saturday of each month this term, before embarking on a short warm-up jog or brisk walk to the racecourse, ready for the 9am start. 

If you are feeling inspired by the teams’ efforts and wish to join in next time, the remaining dates for this term are 3rd June and 1st July. Each event will be followed by celebratory Coffee and Cake at School for the perfect post run snack.  

You will be required to register with parkrun if you haven’t already done so. This will ensure that you have the barcode required to take part. You will only need to register once by following the link https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ this will also hopefully answer any questions you may have via the Parkrun FAQ section.
