At The Mount Junior School we develop the full potential of each individual child. We aim to ensure that all our pupils reach their full academic ability whilst enjoying their time at school.

Individual Needs

We know that every child is different and that is what makes them unique. At The Mount Junior School we foster this individuality, recognising each individual child’s effort, strength and needs. Small class sizes allow us to adapt the level of support and the content to suit the class and individual pupil needs. The education we offer is bespoke and we are very proud of what we offer our pupils.

Our pupils are enthusiastic learners who are eager to try their best.

We encourage our children to aim high and we celebrate gifts and talents across many spheres. Smaller classes and vertical learning allow us to stretch each pupil to the best of their ability by tailoring and adapting their learning.  Our School is one in which children take pleasure and pride in the achievements of their peers. We celebrate successes in Assembly and reward effort and progress as well as achievement.

“Pupils exhibit a sense of empowerment and are very keen to learn, supported by encouragement to achieve their best at all times.”ISI Inspection 2018

Learning Support

At The Mount Junior School we monitor the progress of every child to ensure we can respond if they appear to struggle within a subject or skill area. If this happens, we have a range of options available from small group support within the classroom to individual one-to-one lessons with our specialist learning support teacher. Parents can also raise concerns with staff if they feel their child is struggling in school.

Excellent Facilities

The classrooms for all year groups are bright and superbly resourced – each providing excellent space in which to teach and learn. In addition, a creative arts classroom, a well-resourced library, a modern Life Science room, a school hall, dedicated playgrounds and an outdoor Forest School provide flexible learning space to deliver stimulating lessons. The Mount Junior School also benefits from sharing a campus with The Mount Senior School. Pupils have access to additional facilities including an indoor swimming pool, science laboratories, sports hall and art studios.

“Pupils use information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance and reinforce their learning very effectively.”

“Pupils exhibit increasingly strong study skills as they progress through the school.  Younger pupils begin to embed independent learning, supported by teaching that helps them do so.”
