Scholarship success for Mount pupil Isabella

Congratulations to Year 6 Mount pupil Isabella Watson who has been awarded both an academic and a music scholarship at Wycombe Abbey, one of the world’s most successful girls’ boarding schools.

The Mount Junior School York are celebrating the success of Year 6 pupil Isabella Watson. As announced in the Friday 9th March edition of the Daily Telegraph, Isabella, who has attended The Mount Junior School from the age of 3, has been awarded both The Wycombe Abbey Open Scholarship, the most prestigious academic award offered by Wycombe Abbey, and the Music Scholarship awards at Wycombe Abbey School.

Isabella, who has always wished to attend a full-boarding school, was also awarded Academic and Music scholarships at Cheltenham Ladies College and a music exhibition at St. Paul’s Girls School.  She has chosen to attend and board at Wycombe Abbey.

Rachel Capper, Head of The Mount Junior School, congratulates Isabella on her achievement, saying “We are very proud of Isabella and all that she continues to accomplish. At The Mount Junior School we recognise and celebrate each individual child. Through our bespoke education, we help them find their strengths, teach them to persevere, and to become strong, confident, independent learners. We recognise that each pupil is different and help equip them with the skills to shape their own futures. Whilst Isabella will be missed at The Mount Senior School, it has been her dream from a young age to attend a full-boarding school for girls.  Isabella has always been an avid reader, it was her love of Enid Blyton novels that inspired her boarding school aspirations. We are very proud that the foundations of Isabella’s education, laid at The Mount Junior School, have helped her to achieve that goal.  We are delighted that Isabella has been awarded the Music Scholarship. Isabella is a talented and dedicated musician, and a long-standing member of the National Children’s Orchestra. We wish Isabella every success at Wycombe Abbey. We know that Isabella will leave The Mount Junior School, like all our pupils, with a lifelong love of learning and the spirit of adventure that we instil in all our pupils here at The Mount”
