Children’s Cancer Charity Thanks The Mount

Representatives from the charity Solving Kids Cancer visited The Mount to thank the school for a donation of £4699.

Solving Kids Cancer was the school’s Charity of the Year in 2017-18, along with Learn Bags for Refugees. The girls had fundraised throughout the year with a number of different events, including carol singing at York station, collections with Christmas Meeting and Foundation Meeting, dress up days, the Great Mountie Bake-Off and the ever-popular cake stalls.

Orlaith (College II & Head of Fry’s) and Elise (College I & Cadbury’s) spoke with the visitors about the fundraising efforts and the school’s connection to the charity. The visiting team expressed their gratitude for the donation and look forward to re-visiting The Mount in the future.

The Mount’s unique Quaker ethos encourages girls to make a positive contribution to our changing world. Each House within the school is now tasked with shepherding its own charity fundraising event.

Solving Kids Cancer funds research into neuroblastoma, an aggressive and deadly cancer affecting children. Read more on their website.
