Summer Soirée Series


 

In celebration of our wonderfully talented Performing Arts scholars and pupils, the Speech and Drama department and Music department are presenting the girls’ final pieces in our Summer Soirée Series: Songs and Speakers.

Today’s programme showcases LAMDA awards for Speaking in Public for the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Each girl composed her own speech of four minutes’ duration on two topics of her choice. Reading for Performance also features in today’s showcase.

Speaking Verse & Prose, Grade 4 – Sian (Year 9): Barter, Sara Teasdale; Death Sets Sail, Robin Stevens

Speaking in Public, Bronze – Rebecca (Year 10): Girls’ education in Nigeria; Is VAR good for football? Lucky (Year 10): Girls-only education; Social media 

Speaking in Public, Silver – Rosie (Year 11): Fast fashion; Rainforests; Ruby (Year 11): Zoos and conservation; County lines

Speaking in Public, Gold – Lily (College I): Insanity pleas 

Violin – Madeleine (Year 10): Intermezzo, Pietro Mascagni;  Isobel (Year 11): Vivace, G.P. Telemann

Piano – Eleanor (Year 11): One at a time, Michel Legard; Denva (College II): The Journey, own composition
