Top Of The Bench Chemists

Eleanor (Y11), Blake (Y10), Rosie (Y9) and Rawya (Y9) represented The Mount at the Central Yorkshire local section of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench competition.

This competition is designed to encourage and reward high achievement and is an excellent opportunity to showcase talent in the local area.

The girls enjoyed using their knowledge to answer a range of questions on element anagrams, scientific articles and complex chemical reactions, working really well as a team.

As a result, the girls came first in the practical section, estimating that 44 drops of water can rest on top of a two-pence coin without spilling over the edge.

Well done girls!
