Welcome #BackToSchool

It is lovely to hear the girls’ happy voices and laughter as they return #BackToSchool today. We are delighted to welcome so many new pupils from York, across the UK and abroad and look forward to a fantastic Autumn Term 2021.
Senior School pupils completed lateral flow tests this morning in the Sports Hall, while Juniors gathered on the Tennis Courts to be greeted by Miss Capper. Year 7s enjoyed a guided tour around the Senior School, Year 10s got their teeth into their GCSE lessons, Year 11s chose their dedicated study desks in Horseboxes and College girls settled excitedly in to their studies. The new pupils have enjoyed learning the lingo of The Mount, getting to grips with Choc Lunch, Tramlines, Horseboxes and the like.
It’s exciting seeing new people. I’m new here and it’s nice to meet all the teachers and students. I’m finding it really relaxing. It’s a fresh start in a new school and I feel welcome.” – Minnie, Year 7
It’s all really exciting. I’m quite excited about the lockers, how we have loads of pegs and different ways to keep all our stuff. I’m happy to meet all the new people in a bigger class. It’s quite different from the Junior School. It’s nice because I’m quite close to my older sisters and I can see them now in break time, I couldn’t see them like that when I was still in the Junior School.” – Emilia, Year 7
We’ve just been getting to know the girls, and getting used to the year group.” – Louisa, College I
We had a talk from the new Head of College and the College Leadership Team and there will be a tour for the new girls later today.” – Izzy, College I
Pupils enjoyed discovering many changes around The Mount’s spacious grounds, including a new studio in the Art department, a newly refurbished College Common Room, refreshed décor in the Boarding Houses, new iPads in Junior School and an upgraded IT network throughout the site.
