Yorkshire Rose Academy of Dance (YRAD) Showcase

Accomplished dancers from The Mount Junior and Senior School took part in the Yorkshire Rose Academy of Dance (YRAD) Showcase recently.

The annual showcase proved so popular that its allocated tickets sold out. Additional seats and tickets were released to enable a larger audience to appreciate the performances.

Mount pupils performed in a total of three shows, putting on display their incredible talents across a range of disciplines, including ballet, tap, contemporary, modern and street dance routines.

Performers from The Mount School were:

Lorelei (Year 4)

Jessica (Year 4)

Agnes (Year 5)

Hannah (Year 6)

Ava (Year 8)

Lana (Year 9)

Ellie (Year 9)

“I did a ballet dance and we were being Russian dolls, I also did a contemporary dance and we were being child refugees” – Lorelei, Year 4

The contemporary dance class that Lorelei takes part in choreographed a piece dedicated to supporting refugees and to raise money for War Child, a charity chosen by Yorkshire Rose Academy Teacher, Cheryl Reid. The showcase raised a total of over £800, with donations still being accepted to support the charity.

What War Child said about the support from YRAD:

“We are so grateful for your support because the money you raise will enable War Child to continue to be a force for good. Every penny will help us to provide access to education and the chance for a brighter, happier, and more peaceful future for children living in conflict-affected areas across the world.”

Congratulations to all involved in putting on such enjoyable and inspiring performances, and raising a huge sum of money for a good cause!
