A Superb House Swimming Gala at The Mount!

The Mount School York is a destination for all things swimming with the deepest pool in York and the Tom Dean Swim School now officially open here!

Pupils get to swim here often whether for fun, to learn water safety, in PE sessions, at school swim squads or to enjoy races against friends.

The House Swimming Gala saw a wonderful day of splashy fun with impressive butterfly, breast, back and freestyle strokes, plus great relays. There were some incredible recorded times too.

Competition was good-naturedly fierce with the following results:

First – Rowntree, 105 points

Second – Terry, 89 points

Third – Fry, 76 points

Fourth – Cadbury, 73 points.

Director of Sport, Miss Fiona Newman said:

“I’m proud of all our swimmers. The standard was great today but most importantly, anyone who wished to take part could do so. The best bit is seeing pupils cheering each other on, which reflects our Quaker ethos. Nervous swimmers thrived today alongside elite swimmers who got the chance to share their skills with their friends. Such a positive event, it’s one of the highlights of the year. Well done to all four Houses who really gave it their all.”

“It’s great to all swim together. I usually see my friends at swim squad after school but it is lovely to race against other friends from my class and see the other years in action. Some of the older girls are super-fast!”
