Creating an environment where every individual is valued, enabled to flourish and given the confidence to know they can achieve is at the heart of The Mount School ethos.
We are committed to bringing out the best in every pupil in all that they do. At The Mount pupils develop their academic and social talents to the full, within a happy and supportive community. Tradition is combined with dynamic and forward-thinking teaching to equip pupils with the skills, ambition and confidence to succeed.
As a Quaker Foundation our School aims to:
Pupils at The Mount School learn to think for themselves, developing both resilience and empathy. We foster and promote creativity that encourage our pupils to be ambitious in their aspirations. Mount pupils grow into sharp, grounded, compassionate, confident, and self-aware young adults ready to take on any pursuit they put their mind to.
Children leave The Mount intellectually curious, emotionally confident, socially responsible, prepared to succeed and contribute to our complex and changing world.
The School’s ethos reflects the Quaker values of:
These Quaker values, also called testimonies, are central to our School community – they influence and underpin everything we do.
The Mount School’s motto, ‘Fidelis in Parvo’, translates as: ‘Faithfulness in small things’. It dates back to the School’s Foundation in 1785 and is an important part of School life today. It summarises our confident belief in each and every one of our pupils, which our Quaker education helps nurture and grow.
