At The Mount School York we benefit from a spacious 16 acre campus providing pupils with a safe and secure place to learn.
The Mount School is set in 16 acres of grounds in the heart of York. Spacious lawns and playing fields are surrounded by school buildings all within a 15-minute walk of York’s historic city centre.
Our main School building was purpose-built to house a School for Quaker daughters in 1856. Over the years we have expanded the campus to accommodate sports facilities, modern learning facilities and The Mount Junior School. The original buildings are a fascinating reminder of our rich history but offer the most up-to-date learning environments and technology relevant to school life today.

Our School is situated one campus, meaning all pupils, from Pre-School to Sixth Form, benefit from the facilities below:
IT Suites | School Hall | 25 Metre Indoor Swimming Pool | Netball Courts |
Sports Hall | Science Labs | Sixth Form Centre including study rooms and common area | Senior & Junior School Libraries |
Boarding Accommodation | Dining Hall - with Award Winning Catering | Art & Design Studio | Outdoor Adventure Playground |
Design & Technology Workshop | Careers Resource Centre | Junior Life Sciences Classroom | Grass Tennis Courts |
Mature Forest School with Outdoor Classroom and pond | Dedicated Pre-School Classrooms | Medical Centre | Music Practice Rooms |
Campus Development
To continue to provide the best education for our pupils, we have an on-going programme of investment to ensure that our facilities remain at the highest possible standard. Recent works include the resurfacing of the tennis/netball courts, a rolling refurbishment programme of the bathrooms and bedrooms in the boarding house and decoration of the Sixth Form Common Room.
