Set in fabulous grounds of 16 acres on a conservation area in the heart of York, our pupils are inspired by the beauty and tranquillity of their surroundings. Spacious gardens and playing fields are surrounded by secure school buildings all within a 15-minute walk of York’s historic city centre.
Our main School building was purpose-built to house a School for Quaker daughters in 1856. Over the following 160 years we have expanded the campus to accommodate sports facilities, modern learning facilities and The Mount Junior School. The original buildings are a fascinating reminder of our rich history, but offer the most up-to-date learning environments and technology relevant to schools today.
Below are just some of the fantastic facilities used by all our pupils.
|IT Suites||School Hall||25 Metre Indoor Swimming Pool||Netball Courts|
|Sports Hall||Science Labs||Sixth Form Centre including study rooms and common area||Senior & Junior School Libraries|
|Boarding Accommodation||Dining Hall - with Award Winning Catering||Art & Design Studio||Outdoor Adventure Playground|
|Design & Technology Workshop||Careers Resource Centre||Junior Life Sciences Classroom||Grass Tennis Courts|
|Mature Forest School with Outdoor Classroom and pond||Dedicated Pre-School Classrooms||Medical Centre||Music Practice Rooms|
In order to continue to provide the best education for our pupils, we have an on-going programme of investment to ensure that our facilities remain at the highest possible standard.
Performing Arts Hub
In July 2017, we unveiled our plans to create a Performing Arts Hub at the School. The Mount has a strong tradition of performance and we want the space to allow this to continue for future generations of Mount pupils. The development project will be split into three stages. Phase one will see the construction of a purpose-built dance and drama studio, adjoining the current hall. Phase two will see the refurbishment of the current hall into a more flexible space with retractable theatre-style tiered seating, and new staging and lighting. Phase three will see the construction of a new atrium joining the new facilities with the current music block.
We also have plans to develop our current sports facilities by extending the outdoor tennis and netball court provision.
