The school is extremely lucky to be the proud new owners of a wonderful, historical set of Shakespeare books thanks to current pupil, Lucy, and her benevolent family.
Lucy’s grandparents, Christine & Nigel McInroy, kindly donated this rare, complete-works-of-Shakespeare – which has been in the family for generations – for the whole school community to enjoy and treasure.
This Imperial Edition set, edited by Knight, and published by Virtue, is uncommonly found, and a wonderful new addition to our heritage library.
In a thank you card, Mr & Mrs McInroy kindly wrote,
“Donated to The Mount School…in recognition of the dedication and hard work off all members of staff in creating an environment where every individual is valued.”
Lucy said:
“The books are precious to my family and full of history. There is even a pressed rose in one of the books from my great grandparent’s funeral.
My grandparents were so pleased to widen the opportunity for pupils to enjoy the books which were gathering dust in their house in Scotland. They were proud to pass on this legacy after they toured the school’s gorgeous library and saw other precious books from the past and wanted to add to the collection.”
Principal, David Griffiths, said:
“What an amazing legacy for The Mount and The English Department. As a small school we really get to know parents and extended family and this act of generosity has touched all our hearts.
A gift for current and future generations alike to enjoy, we really are thankful for this generous donation from such a kind and thoughtful family.”
