Lunar New Year Proudly Celebrated at The Mount

The Mount wishes the whole community a Happy Lunar New Year in the Year of the Snake 2025.
In school we enjoyed a delicious banquet of sweet and sour soup, General Tso’s chicken, spicy fried rice, wok-fried greens & fortune cookies thanks to our talented catering team.
Mr Tong ran calligraphy sessions across the whole school. Juniors were particularly adept at copying the beautiful characters and producing wonderful script.
A boarders’ celebration at the weekend featured delicious, traditional food from a local Chinese restaurant, a musical performance on the intricate Pipa instrument from talented alumna Jasmine, paper cutting and calligraphy plus a disco. We were delighted to welcome pupils and staff from Queen Ethelburga’s to join in the celebrations.
Reception is currently writing dragon stories, designing Chinese lanterns and looking at new year customs.
Enjoy celebrating Lunar New Year!
Here’s to a healthy, rewarding and prosperous new year for all as we live our school values to ‘strive for personal excellence’, ‘live adventurously’, ‘respect and value others’, ‘flourish in a calm and caring community’ and ‘make a positive contribution to our changing world’.
