Marvellous Mount Girls

Celebrate our Mount girls’ recent achievements!

Congratulations to Harriet (Y8) who came first for the Girls U13 High Jump in the York Open athletics championships over the weekend at the City of York Athletics Club.

Harriet achieved a new personal best of 1.4m, beating her previous record of 1.28m. “I don’t know where that came from,” says Harriet, modestly. “I tried starting my run up from a different place, so maybe that was it.

Congratulations also to Miryam (Y7) who has completed her Silver Arts Award. This is notable achievement is even more remarkable because, although the award is open to children from the age of 11, it is actually designed for those aged 14 years and above. As well as appearing in different amateur productions, Miryam has volunteered for a local theatre company to assist with their 5-8 year olds group.

College Netball made it to the semi-finals of the National Schools Netball tournament, winning three straight games against formidable opposition before bowing out of the competition.

Still on Sports news, the senior school’s football teams are doing very well. The U12 and U13 teams played their first matches of the season away at Bootham on 19 September, and next week the U14 and U15 teams will play their opening games #WeKnowGirlsCan
