Mount Mother & Daughter Duo Take Part in Landmark Women’s Cricket Match

Caroline Duffy, Prep School teacher, and her daughter India, in Year 11, took to the field earlier this month in a landmark match that marked the beginning of women’s cricket at Heworth Cricket Club.

The Duffy family have long been involved with the club, through India’s brother, so when the opportunity to take part in the first ever women’s game at the club arose, Caroline and India heeded the call.

This match follows growing interest in the women’s game at Heworth. The opportunity to play together in a match that will forever be part of the club’s history made the occasion even more memorable.

“It was incredibly special to share the experience with my daughter,” said Caroline. “Knowing that we were part of the first women’s team ever to play at Heworth is something we’ll always be proud of.”

At The Mount, we are proud to champion opportunities that inspire girls and women to challenge boundaries and promote women’s sport.
Well done to Caroline and India for their participation in this historic game, paving the way for future generations of women cricketers in true Mountie fashion!
