Mountie Scientists Shine in Prep School Science Expo

The Mount Prep School’s Science Expo for Years 1-6 was a fantastic day full of creativity & curiosity.

As part of our Prep School’s ‘Explore Discover Create’ curriculum, pupils were tasked with creating their own scientific experiments, presenting them with a bright interactive display to share with visitors at the Expo.

Pupils showcased their hard work for family members. As a result, each of our talented scientists were given a medal which recognised and celebrated their brilliant minds.

Among the diverse range of projects were paper mâché volcanoes, Lego re-enactments of tsunamis and a model of the Earth’s crust in the form of a chocolate cake (which was then shared out)!

The Mount puts excellence in STEM front and centre – events like these encourage curiosity and confidence in STEM for the younger members of our school community.

A Year 3 pupil said, “I loved designing my experiment and carrying it out. I explained it to lots of people today and they all thought it was a good idea. I’ve enjoyed eating a slice of the earth-crust chocolate cake and a free badge from my friend’s stall. I think it would be fun to be a scientist and solve problems all day.”

Well done to all our pupils who participated and thank you to the family members who attended the event.
