Ruby is Selby Coaches’ Player Of The Year

Congratulations to Ruby Morgan (Y9) who last night was named Selby Rugby Union Club’s U15 Coaches’ Player of the Year at the club’s annual awards presentation last night.

Ruby began playing club rugby just over a year ago and is now a fundamental part of the team at Number 8, throwing herself into the ruck to get possession. She also plays for an older age grade in the club’s U15 squad, which had an almost-unbeaten season, losing only to Halifax’s Old Brods.

Emma Howell, The Mount’s Head of PE said today, “Ruby is a wonderful team player and her passion for rugby outside of school is reflected in her enthusiasm for team sports within the school.”

The Mount is York’s only independent school to not schedule Saturday lessons. This means girls are free to pursue their interests outside of school during weekends and still have time to enjoy family life, something very much appreciated by many parents and grandparents.

Ruby and her sister are currently also taking a scuba-diving course outside of school to pursue PADI dives during their summer holidays.
