Sports Day 2026 – A Day of Competition, Camaraderie & Good Cheer
Pupils throughout the school showed enthusiasm and team spirit as they celebrated The Mount’s annual Sports Day.
The excitement was palpable as crowds began to form ahead of the big day. Family, friends and school staff gathered to watch pupils take part in a plethora of track and field events. Spectators cheered and music played as the atmospheric day unfolded.
In the first part of the day, girls from Senior School took part in field events such as javelin throw, long jump and high jump, while Prep School pupils participated in races of varying lengths, as invested parents watched from the sidelines. The two groups then swapped over for the latter half of the day. The Senior school races excited crowds as pupils gave it their all, earning valuable points for their House.
The afternoon concluded with House relay races, as representatives from different year groups worked together in what were the most electric races of the day.
As the results were counted, Prep and Senior School pupils had a chance to join the cheering spectators for the ‘College Versus Staff’ relay race.
Frys House emerged as the overall winners following a day full of close finishes, late drama and impressive performances. Meanwhile, Terrys won the Prep School edition of Sports Day.
Congratulations to pupils from the winning houses, as well as all those who took part – you’re determination and talent were on full display!
Fiona Newman, Director of Sport said: “What a fantastic day! I was so impressed by the performances, effort and good cheer of all our participants. It was amazing to see everyone so willing to get involved – there was a real positive feeling amongst all those present. Congratulations to Terrys for winning the Prep School Sports Day, and to Frys, for their impressive victory in the overall Sports Day. I’m sure this is a day our pupils will remember for a long time, and like me, they’re already looking forward to next year’s Sports Day!”
