The Mount Receives Stellar Review from The Good Schools Guide

The highly-esteemed Good Schools Guide describes The Mount as ‘a place of calm and compassion’ in its thorough and complimentary review.

The Good Schools Guide (GSG) is an independent source of information on schools, which describes itself as ‘fiercely unbiased and honest’.

A representative from GSG visited The Mount in 2025 for a full day. They met with pupils and staff, observed lessons, spoke with our Head and enjoyed our food. After immersing themselves in our community, they had a comprehensive understanding of life at The Mount.

The review touches on and praises all areas of our school. Pupils are described as speaking “eloquently and with confidence, polite and deferential to a fault, it is hard not to be won over,” while our campus is praised for both its heritage and facilities: “there is ample space on site for all sports…everyone has a chance to represent school…teams are successful, notably netball.” The library’s wood-lined shelves and central fireplace gets a warm mention as: “the cosiest snuggle in the school.”

Central to the school is our proudly Quaker Ethos:

“The Quaker ethos remains central, and students exude the mindfulness and calm reflective attitudes at the core of that faith.”

While visiting the school, the GSG reviewer spoke directly with pupils, who shared how they feel about our school:

“Teachers push us to reach our best, not the best” and “no matter what your personality, what makes you ‘you’, The Mount celebrates that.”

The Mount is extremely proud of this well-deserved, positive review, a testament to every member of our school community.

Some parents talked about their first visit. “A parent spoke about being ‘sold straight away’ on the school ‘by the impressive Sixth Form guides. If ours turns out like that, we’ll be happy.’ Another commented on the nurturing environment and the kindness.”

At The Mount we always say “nothing beats a visit. Do come and see what makes us so special if you haven’t already!”
