York City Football Foundation Female Pathway Programme launch Mount School base

York City Football Foundation find new base for their Female pathway programmes at The Mount School York

Starting this month, YCFC Foundation will be operating from The Mount School facilities opening a brand-new FA Emerging Talent Centre, as well as continuing a new season for its Girls only Development Centres and FA Regional Talent Club providing a base for 8-16 year olds to develop their footballing skills at every level and creating the “Lionesses” of the future.

In addition, the pathway feeds into the open age with York City Ladies FC and the newly created YCLFC development team for ages 16+. Paula Stainton, The Foundation Manager said: “It is an exciting time for girls joining our Female Pathway. We believe in empowering young female players to be their personal best, and the importance of inspiring younger girls to participate and excel in football. Following our great success on the pitch last season, York City Ladies FC, who won the North East Regional WFL Premier Division title and the County Cup, have gained promotion into the fourth tier of football, the FA Women’s National League and this will provide us with a greater platform to do that with. We’re really looking forward to working in partnership with The Mount School who share this same ethos

Jackie Greenwood, Head of PE at The Mount added: “Hosting York City Football Club Foundation’s female programmes at The Mount has enormous potential to make a positive difference in encouraging young girls to develop their football skills. It is great to see the profile of women’s football increasing, particularly as the Women’s EURO tournament kicks off. We will be cheering the Lionesses on from The Mount as well as encouraging more girls and young women to get involved in football.”

York City Ladies Kit Sponsor

In addition to providing a base for the Female Pathway programmes, The Mount School are also delighted to be sponsoring York City Ladies FC kit next season. David Griffiths said:“I am delighted that our partnership with York CityFootball ClubFoundation goes from strength to strength. We are extremely proud to be sponsors of York Ladies FC kit. The team have performed exceedingly well over the last season and deserved their promotion. The ladies’ team are fantastic role models to our pupils and embody The Mount’s mantra of We Know Girls Can.”
