Mount Girl Crowned Double World Champion at Dance World Cup Finals

Connie, who was one of four Mount girls to represent Team England at the competition, participated in two group dances that were deemed the best in the world. 

The Dance World Cup brings together elite dancers from around the globe, showcasing incredible routines in a fiercely competitive and entertaining event. The event is regarded as the ‘Olympics of Dance’. 

At this year’s finals, held in Dublin, four Mount pupils were selected to represent Team England – a selection that acknowledges their elite-level talent, technique and hard work. 

This is the fourth year pupils from The Mount have successfully qualified for Team England, a testament to our position as hub of performing arts excellence. 

This was the most successful year to date for our girls – Connie, Year 7, had six podium places: 

 

World Champion – children’s small group acrobatic 

World Champion – children’s large group acrobatic

2nd – children’s large group lyrical 

2nd – children’s large group classical 

3rd – children’s small group ballet 

3rd – children’s large group ballet 

 

Hope, Year 8, competed in the children’s large group jazz, while Holly, Year 11, and Freya, Year 9, competed in the senior small group showstopper sections which came 11th and 14th in the World respectively. 

Connie said: ‘I had the best week of my life’. 

Freya, who qualified for the first time said: ‘What an opportunity it was to represent England, I’ll never forget it’. 

Hope said: ‘one of my favourite things was getting to know dancers from so many other countries and trading flag pin badges with them backstage’. 

Everyone at The Mount is extremely proud of the achievements of these four pupils. Being selected by your country to dance at the very top level is something to be very proud of.
