The Mount Dance Club Dazzles, Taking Silver in The Great Big Dance Off!

After taking an impressive second place in The Great Big Dance Off, in Nottingham, talented Mount Dance Club is now busy preparing for the Final in Cheltenham in July.

Placing fifth last year was an admirable achievement and coming a superb second this year shows the group’s dedication to crisp choreography and creative flair is paying off, year on year.

The routine – first performed in The Mount Dance Showcase recently to rapturous applause – is an upbeat and ambitious piece.

The troupe wowed the judging panel and the audience with their energetic interpretation of Tina Turner’s rousing ‘Proud Mary’. Dazzling in red-fringed costumes, the routine was a rollercoaster which tested the girls’ fitness and timing, where they absolutely rose to the challenge.

Fiona Newman, Director of Sport and choreographer, said:

“What a night! I’m over the moon with how well it went after months of dedication from the girls.
This was an amazing performance, made even better by excellent facial expressions, bringing drama and energy to the whole piece.

The judges were particularly impressed with our group’s commitment to ‘telling the story’ evidenced by the high scores.
Bravo. Utterly proud. Now preparations for the Final begin.”

The group sat in stunned silence when results were announced – thinking they had misheard – before cheering at levels ballad-belter Tina Turner would have been Proud (Mary) of.
