Lily Rocks the Stage in ‘We Will Rock You’

Former pupil, Lily who joined The Mount School back in 2008 has been rocking the socks off audiences this week as she played the lead role in ‘We Will Rock You’ at CAPA College.

Lily’s passion for performing quickly developed following her first ever LAMDA lesson here at The Mount School. Fresh off the back of her exceptional performances on stage this week, we were lucky enough to hear from Lily who kindly gave us an insight into the opportunities she has experienced as part of her journey to becoming the performer she is today. Lily discusses her successes so far and what she hopes to achieve in the future.

“I hold complete credit and gratitude to The Mount for allowing and believing in me to follow my passion and navigate me with their teaching to lead me down the road to achieving my dreams and a step closer towards perusing my career.”

With aspirations of becoming a professional actress and musical theatre performer in the industry, Lily reflects on the foundations she built to ensure she would succeed, and how the support and unwavering guidance of her teachers helped prepare her for the bright future that lay before her.

The school really prepared me and acted as a pivotal environment for me to shape me as an individual. I grasped an abundance of key values and a strong ethos of the quaker community and belief system that everyone is equal and to always treat others with kindness. I learnt basic manners and common courtesy, which when coming into other environments with diverse groups of people I have noticed that those same values are unique and special to carry with you. Not everyone develops them the way they are installed into you at The Mount.”

The next steps in Lily’s career are clearly paved out. She plans to move to London to attend a prestigious Drama School to study Musical Theatre, before studying for a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts. With her future goals in sight, she is keen to credit the experience she had at The Mount for helping to prepare her on her inspirational journey.

“I will forever be thankful for the way in which The Mount always supported me with the opportunity to take the path I wanted to go down, without trying to sway me. They believed in me and trusted my ability to obtain my dreams.”

Summing up her experiences of The Mount School in 3 simple words, Lily would use; “Nurturing, Evolving, Freedom (to become the person you want to be)”
