Boarders Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta Outing

Boarding pupils enjoyed a special outing to the Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta on Saturday afternoon. Here at The Mount School, we are fortunate to have the largest hot air balloon festival in the North right on our doorstep each year.

Our close proximity to the annual extravaganza allowed our boarders to enjoy the full spectacle as even the early morning, mass balloon launches each day of the event can be viewed from the school grounds. From the comfort of their home, the girls were able to watch the amazing finale fireworks out of the boarding house windows too, providing the perfect entertainment to draw the weekend to a close.

Unfortunately, adverse weather conditions resulted in the hot air balloons being deemed unsafe for take-off on Saturday evening, however, there was a wide variety of entertainment on offer for the girls to indulge in. Attractions included live music, an abundance of food and drink stalls, an owl adventure experience, complete with birds of prey display, an inflatable labyrinth challenge and even a live stunt show.

The wind eased up just as they arrived at the event, allowing the girls to make the most of the many fairground rides. Whether hook-a-duck and teacups or the more daring rollercoasters and ‘stratosfear’ were more their style, every one of our girls had a wonderful time.
