It is lovely to have the girls back at school, at last. The corridors are filled with laughter and chatter, the classrooms are brimming with discussion and deep thought, from Pre-School to College II.

“I’m excited to not be on Zoom, and also because mums should be mums and teachers should be teachers,” said Hope at the school gates as she waited to go through to class.
Principal of @MountSchoolYork Adrienne Richmond had told @GHRYork she’s looking forward to bringing back “fun, frivolity and happiness” now that pupils are back in school. #BackToSchool #York pic.twitter.com/jGwWoRLZ8c

“The buzz and the enjoyment and the laughter: that’s what I’m keen to get back,” Ms Richmond told Greatest Hits Radio as The Mount welcomed back onsite all day pupils yesterday for the first time since School broke up in December.
Junior School girls were giddy with excitement as they gathered together to be escorted to class in their bubbles.
Meanwhile, Senior girls, who have the option to undergo lateral flow tests (LFT) twice a week, had staggered arrival times through the day. Years 9, 8 and 7 arrived in the earlier part of the morning. Then, at 10am the girls in school and those yet to arrive joined the online Question and Answer session with Baroness Hale.
After Choc Lunch, GCSE pupils arrived for their LFT and for classes, and College arrived after Lunchtime.
Speaking to That’s TV York, Izzy and Ruby (Year 11) said, “It’s so nice to be back with your friends, and in person rather than just talking through screens. It’s really nice.” The girls spoke about the LFT process and their GCSE assessments.

Ms Richmond told parents yesterday, “It has filled me with great delight to have been able to welcome back all of our pupils. Hearing laughter outside at lunchtime in particular, was a moment in which I felt that we are at last starting to see some form of normality in life again. I hope the girls have enjoyed the day and are less anxious when they get home this evening, than they maybe were this morning in anticipation of returning to School.”
