Learning in the Pre-School encourages children to be confident in their own ideas, make decisions, use their imagination, solve problems and take risks. Creativity is encouraged together with all-important opportunities for play and developing friendships.
The creative curriculum is all about thinking, exploring, discovering and creating with your mind! It encourages children to develop emotionally and socially, giving them opportunities to express themselves and learn to explore the world around them.
Some children prefer to learn outside, and we positively encourage all our pupils to do just that. Our Pre-School children visit our onsite Forest School each week. The area includes an outdoor classroom, kitchen and a log seating area with a campfire. In this setting the children learn to express their curiosity freely, asking questions and finding out about the world around them.
The Pre-School curriculum lays the foundation for literacy and numeracy. Focused activities support children’s learning, encouraging them to use their imagination, communicate with others, and discover the world around them.
Creativity thrives in our Pre-School setting. Children have the freedom to express themselves through art, dance, music and imaginative play. The bright and stimulating environment nurtures creative thinking. The Mount’s specialist music teacher and staff within The Mount Junior School enhance the Pre-School children’s creative learning. Children leave the Pre-School with confidence and self-assurance of their own thoughts and expressions.
