Business & Economics Studies’ KS3 Enterprise Day was Choc Full of Ideas
Enterprise Day for Years 7-9 with College I advising and judging the competition was both fun and educational. Ms Barnes from the new Business and Economics Department ran a fascinating and informative day for KS3.
The day involved pupils applying their Maths skills and featured an introduction to marketing. Tasks involved designing a new chocolate product and preparing a Dragons’ Den Style pitch, judged by College I Business class, who helped them develop their products throughout the day.
Congratulations to Team B whose French-named chocolate company, Sucre de Velours (Velvet Chocolate), was judged to be the best in terms of design, marketing, finance and likeliness to succeed in a competitive market. Well done to Evie, Sienna, Edith, Rose, Mai and Selena.
Maheshi, Year 7, said, “I’ve learned all about teamwork and creativity.”
Orla, Year 8, said, “A quarter of our profits will go towards helping injured polar bears.”
Isabella, Year 8, said, “This inspired me to think of the career options ahead of me and I’m considering GCSE Business Studies. It opened my eyes to the world of how business works.”
Abigail, Year 9, said, “We had to work out the ingredients of the chocolate then use Maths for profits, work out costs and how much to sell the product for. This is an interesting process ahead of GCSEs and was a great taster for what GCSE Business Studies will be like.”
Sofia, College I, said, “This day has been valuable to teach pupils what goes on behind the scenes of a new business, and is a great introduction to what GCSE business studies entails.”
Izzy, College I, said, “This has been great to encourage creativity and innovation in Business.”
