We Know Girls Can

As parents, we want what’s best for our daughters. You want them to be happy, well educated and confident in themselves.

At The Mount School York, your daughter will be in a supportive and nurturing environment, allowing her to grow and thrive.

We encourage each girl to trust in her capacity to lead, make the most of every opportunity and face challenges with resilience.

Your daughter will excel in an all-girls educational environment at The Mount School York. Our Quaker founders knew this to be true in 1785, and we still believe it today.

I am a real advocate for The Mount School as I recognise how it has shaped me so much as a person. I have gained determination, personality, a wonderful education but most of all confidence. I will sincerely miss The Mount. It has not only been a school, but it has also been a home.

FAQ

Taught by experts in understanding girls’ needs, we inspire girls by teaching them in a manner that they instinctively respond to, instruction and lessons are tailored to girls. For example, during science practicals, girls are given the time to think, experiment and consolidate their learning. Our bespoke and engaging curriculum is tailored to motivate and enthuse girls from the Early Years right through to Sixth Form.

At The Mount School, we believe that the use of Information Technology should be integral to the teaching and learning process.  We want our pupils to be fully skilled in the fast-changing world.

Modern-day technologies are continually changing and adapting and as such so is the way we teach. All of our teachers are equipped with iPad devices and classrooms are fitted with an Apple TV.  Teachers are skilled in delivering lessons with this technology and utilise developments and new technology in the teaching of their lessons. Girls in the Senior chocolate are required to have an iPad or device and have access to Office365 and the apps that come with this. Pupils in the junior school have access to a bank of iPads.

We believe that co-curricular activities enable our pupils to develop interests and skills which will enrich their lives during their time at school and beyond. Girls have plenty of opportunities to continue their personal development, learn new skills, challenge themselves, build confidence and have fun through our co-curricular opportunities.  Whether this is through outdoor learning, after school activities, competing on the sports fields or participating in residential trips Mount girls have plenty of opportunities to experience life beyond the classroom.

The Mount School has a long history of providing financial assistance to pupils and their families through bursaries. Bursaries are available for UK applicants on entry into Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form College. A bursary is means-tested, so the value of the bursary is relative to the financial resources of the pupil’s family. A bursary is expressed as a percentage of the standard day fee and will reduce the termly bills proportionately.
