This Autumn The Mount School is delighted to be hosting our second ever three-day Piano School from Friday 1 – Sunday 3 November.
The course is directed by internationally-renowned pianist and teacher, Paul Feehan, features world-class Maestro Martin Roscoe, and talented pianists and teachers from The Mount School Music Department.
Young people from the local community and Mount pupils can sign up for one, two or three days of access to our incredible 14 Steinway pianos. We are proudly the first all-Steinway School in Yorkshire and one of only 25 cross the country.
The course will cater to each pupil’s needs and pianists at every level are warmly welcomed.
Interested pupils can opt in to one, two or three days although the full three-day course is recommended to finetune and boost piano skills for pupils who have grades coming up and those who just learn for fun.
At the grand finale on Sunday, we will host one of the UK’s most loved and respected pianists, Martin Roscoe, who will share his five decades of experience on Piano with pupils in an afternoon Masterclass. Pupils will then have the opportunity to perform their freshly-tweaked pieces in a Student Showcase Concert, followed by a solo evening recital by Martin himself.
“…Roscoe is a pianist who both thinks and offers full-blooded playing of breadth and depth. In this country, he is an uncommon creature…” Daily Telegraph
“…a confident and unvarnished dynamism that reveals a pianist at the top of his game…” International Piano
The course is designed as a musical Pick n Mix; there are eight sessions per day (9.45am-4.30pm lunch is included in the cost), and pupils can choose from many options, including:
- One-to-one lessons taught by esteemed pianists
- Masterclasses (please note that Martin Roscoe’s MC has an additional charge of £25)
- Recitals
- Martin Roscoe Recital ( Sunday)
- Keyboard Skills
- Theory
- Aural

Director of Music, Dr Passmore said: “We cannot wait to welcome you all to The Mount Piano School. A three-day celebration of all things piano, our 14 Steinways can’t wait be played and enjoyed. There is something for everyone, and the ability to tailor your course to suit your own learning is unique.”
You may be interested to know our thriving music department regularly hosts Maestros@TheMount evenings of professional music which everyone is welcome to attend. Follow us on social media to hear about the next ones coming up.”
Costs have been kept as low as possible to make the course inclusive and include one-to-one lessons that would alone be costly outside of this setting. One day costs £115, two days are £200 and three days are £275. There is a £100 deposit on booking. As a Quaker school cost should never be a barrier to opportunity so please let us know on the registration form if this presents any challenges for you.
There is also an option for piano students to observe only with separate costings – see form.
