Congratulations! Mount A Level Results Make us so Proud of our Hardworking Pupils Again!

Sounds of joy and hugs of celebration were the order of the day at The Mount today where pupils’ hard work was again rewarded on Results Day.

The Mount secured the perfect ten with 100% A*- B grades achieved in ten subjects including languages, Geography and STEM subjects: Maths and Physics.

As ever, our Art department performed exceptionally well with 100% A* grades, and Textiles and Chinese saw 100% of pupils achieve A*- A grades.

Many girls outperformed their predicted grades after working so hard, with 70% of girls achieving at least one grade A or A* at A Level and others achieving two or more.

A selection of our achievers:

Kiera’s astonishing creativity was rewarded with three superb A*s in Art, Textiles and Chinese. In addition, her breathtaking EPQ saw her use software programme Blender to create a wonderful 3D character based on the Lotus flower. Kiera’s commitment to her subjects, creative talents and excellent time management skills – also maintaining a part-time job at weekends – will see her go far and we wish her every further success. Bravo!

Berlin similarly excelled with her A level grades, including an A* in Art and an A in Geography,  and a grade A for her thoughtful, Geography-based EPQ which saw her consider how we can all make York more sustainable, with an emphasis on Architecture and CAD design, another of her talents. Berlin has been an integral part of the school community as one of our Head Girls, always willing to go the extra mile and a wonderful, friendly ambassador of our school. Well done, we know you will thrive in your next steps. We congratulate Berlin on achieving her ambition of studying Architecture at the University of Edinburgh and wish her the best of luck.

Lisa’s commitment to her studies is inspiring, taking four A Levels and one EPQ. With a strong performance across all her A Levels, including Psychology and English Literature and Language, her A and A* in Italian and Russian stand out. With such a workload, Lisa also made time to be an enthusiastic school House Captain, taking her House to sporting victory on many occasions, representing The Mount at Model United Nations in Bath and working as an intern in the school Marketing Department each week. A popular student, we know Lisa’s infectious confidence and talent will take her far, specifically in her intended career of Formula One marketing. Good luck!

Soraja was delighted to be awarded a coveted place at The Faculty of Dentistry with Clinic in her home city of Sarajevo.

There are far too many individual achievements to mention but all our College girls outdid themselves this year and should be very proud of themselves.

University destinations include the following (with some Russell Group universities):

The University of Edinburgh, Newcastle University, University of York, University of Exeter, University of Hertfordshire, Loughborough University, University of Manchester, Lancaster University, University of Nottingham, King’s College London and University of London.

Subjects to be studied include:

Mathematics, Psychology, Natural Sciences, Drama, Mechanical Engineering, 3D Animation and Visual Effects, English and Film & Television Studies (with employment experience abroad), Social and Political Sciences (with a year in industry) and History.

Head, Anna Wilby, said:

“I have got to know this cohort of girls well in my wonderful first sixth months at The Mount. I am consistently proud of all they are, and all they have achieved. These girls are exceptional and I applaud them all.

In a competitive exam landscape, it has been great to see our girls focused and heads down, committed to revision under the expert guidance of our hardworking teachers. Excellent Sixth Form study habits have led them to achieve to the very best of their abilities which is all we can ask.

I’m delighted that they have today reaped the deserved rewards which mark the first stage of their next steps.

Today is a wonderful reminder of the benefits of an all-girls senior school education as we see our pupils achieving the highest grades in such an impressive range of subjects.”

Deputy Head (Senior School), James Waddington, said:

“Huge congratulations! I have seen firsthand the amount of work our pupils have put in to lead up to this important day. These exam results are so well deserved.

I admire all our pupils but I have extra respect for those girls for whom exams can be a struggle and for some of them to achieve beyond predictions, is what this job is all about.

As I have talked to the girls today, it has been wonderful to be reminded of the benefits of the holistic education of The Mount. Hearing stories of the varied, valuable ways the pupils have spent their summer, reinforces what well-rounded young women they are, ready to be successful in their next steps. I look forward to the girls coming back to say hello and to inspire the next generation of Mounties to similarly aspire and succeed in the future, following in their (hard-to-fill) footsteps.”
