Mount Entrepreneurs Excel at York Business Competition
Our talented College girls attended a business enterprise competition at York St John University this week, where they were tasked with creating and presenting a product to industry experts.
The event, sponsored by York Chocolate Works, saw our business students work together as a team to design a chocolate product that would not only fly off the shelves, but also champion ethical and sustainable practices.
Sixth Former Esther said, “it was so interesting and useful, as it taught us so much about marketing products.”
The pupils came up with a concept that was unique and ethically responsible: chocolate bars with exotic flavours such as lychee and passionfruit. Part of the profits would go back into the communities where these ingredients were sourced, an aspect that the girls said stemmed from their Quaker values, which prioritise sustainability.
The group shared out the roles: two pupils created an engaging presentation, which the remaining three used to convince the judges, who were impressed by their unique and well-considered approach.
Business teacher Beverley Barnes, said: “the event was so beneficial, and the girls performed excellently well. As a result of their hard work, they will return to The Chocolate Works after Christmas, to see how products are developed in a business setting. Well done to all of them.”
