Mount Girl Harriet Comes 2nd Overall in National Omnium Race

Cycling sensation Harriet, Year 8, put in a fantastic performance that resulted in a top podium finish, giving her a great chance of securing a spot in the National Youth Omnium Series Final in London!
A talented and determined cyclist, Harriet trains five times a week and has been a member of the Clifton Cycle Club since the age of seven. This skill has seen her compete across the UK, as well as in The Netherlands.
She is currently competing at U14s level in the National Youth Omnium Series. She will participate in four omnium races, gaining points in each based on her position. The cumulative points from her best three finishes will determine if she qualifies for the final at The Lee Valley VeloPark in London.
Harriet attended the first race of the omnium series in Glasgow earlier this month. Her second-place finish has given her a great chance of qualifying for the final.
The whole Mount School community is so proud to have such a talented pupil and supports her ambitions fully.
Harriet said: “My brother cycles for Team GB, and I hope to do the same when I’m a bit older.”
Fiona Newman, Director of Sport, said:
“We are all so proud of Harriet’s wonderful achievements in cycling, where I’ve no doubt she will continue to go from strength to strength in pursuit of her ambitions.
We are always pleased to hear about her astonishing progress and we are all fully behind her!”
Harriet will compete in the second part of this series in April – everyone at The Mount is rooting for her.
