Mount Pianists Visit Steinway Hall

It was a significant occasion today in the long history of The Mount when our Junior and Senior School pianists visited Steinway Hall in London to pick out our new fleet of pianos as we move one step closer to completing our requirements to become an All Steinway School. The Mount will become one of only 22 schools in the UK to achieve this internationally recognised designation.

The fleet is due to be delivered and installed on Wednesday 4 March, which the School will celebrate with a unique piano recital.

Kyra (Y6) said, “The trip was amazing. We learned about the history of Steinway and how they make pianos. And we got to play on some of their instruments and help to choose the pianos that will be delivered to the school next month.

Rachel Derbyshire, Head of Music, said, “Some of the girls got to have a bit of a Masterclass with a Steinway Artist. We will be welcoming more Steinway artists to The Mount in the coming years to hold workshops and perform with our girls.

Adrienne Richmond, Principal, said, “This investment and partnership with Steinway & Sons comes at an exciting time for The Mount School, and reinforces our commitment to the Performing Arts and the importance of creativity in education.
