Year 9’s Interactive Museum Exhibition Delights Visitors

Girls from Year 9 each created a fascinating display on a topic of their choice as part of their History lessons.

The Sri Lankan Civil War, the evolution of fashion and art in Japan, the spread of the plague in Europe, spy techniques, the Pyramids and Norse mythology were just some of the diverse topics covered in this eclectic exhibition.

Each display also included an interactive element, bringing the exhibition to life. From code-breaking activities to Japanese-style paint stamping, these additions made every display a unique and engaging experience.

Penelope who researched Mulberry Harbours – temporary harbours used to off-load supplies for the D-Day invasion in France, said:

“This topic has been so interesting for me. I was lucky enough to visit Normandy where it all happened and it has been fascinating to hear about the challenges people faced and overcame in this tricky set of manoeuvres, and innovative engineering, so essential to the D-Day invasion planning.”

Rebecca Abbey, History Teacher, said: “It has been great to see the pupils research independently and choose such diverse topics, a reflection of the cultural diversity present in our school.”

She spoke directly to the pupils: “Well done Year 9s; your projects were creative and well-crafted and your passion and hard work shone through. I have been so impressed with your thoughtful preparation and engaging interactive ideas. You’ve set the bar high for next year’s exhibition!”
