Art enthusiasts across York collaborated with renowned British Contemporary Artist, Ian Murphy last week as they attended his first ever Artist Summer School at The Mount.
Attendees worked closely with the professional artist to hone their skills and focus on developing a strong portfolio of work required for both GCSE and A level study. Photography, drawing techniques, line making and shading, surface backgrounds, preparing a canvas and oil painting were all amongst the skills demonstrated expertly by Ian.
“An absolutely fantastic week. The girls achieved so much, including an amazing range of drawings and paintings to inspire them going into year 10 year 11.” – Ms Milton, Head of Art at The Mount School
“We are amazed by the quantity, quality, and variety of work Libby achieved in just one week. She really enjoyed learning lots of new techniques from Ian and is excited about how she might apply them in her future pieces.” – Parent of Year 10 pupil, Libby
Examples of the groups exceptional pieces are displayed in the gallery here.
Following the overwhelming success of this year’s Art Summer School, we look forward to welcoming Ian back again next year.
