Superstar Mount Girl Hope Portrays Annie on Stage at York Theatre Royal

Talented Hope, in Year 8, wowed audiences as she took on the title role of Annie in York Light Opera’s rendition of the timeless classic.
Hope, who has been acting since she was four, is no stranger to the stage. She has excelled in previous roles in the UK tour of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, and in the pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the Grand Opera House, though starring as Annie is perhaps her biggest role yet.
You can bet your bottom dollar  that Hope rose to the occasion, giving a charismatic performance full of infectious enthusiasm, with great reviews from critics.
The production team praised Hope for her maturity, as they called her professional and reliable.
Hope said, “it was a privilege to work with such an amazing cast and crew” and when asked for advice to budding actors, she said “Annie is full of optimism and believes in a bright future, so if you believe it and work hard, dreams can come true”.
Hope one day aspires to act on screen, though she’d also love to work with animals. The role of Annie combined these passions, as Hope acted alongside cheeky (and sometimes uncooperative) ‘Sandy’ the dog!
After a series of wonderful performances across the show’s two week run, Hope is already eager to return to the stage, as she auditions for new roles to continue her already impressive acting career.
Many of Hope’s classmates and friends across the school years attended productions to cheer her on.
Agnes, Year 9, said, “Hope is Annie! Her performance was incredible, with wonderful singing and I was proud to congratulate her at the stage door.”
Everyone at The Mount is behind Hope and we look forward to seeing what she does next. The sky’s the limit! Who knows what Tomorrow will bring?
