Famous Author Enchants Prep School!
What a treat to have talented, published author of books for children, young adults and adults, Dawn Treacher reading her latest book in Prep School this week. Dawn’s daughter is a Mount Old Scholar herself, now studying at a top university.
Dawn wowed Prep pupils – including Pre-School – reading out her recent book, ‘Mabel and The Flower Spell’. Pupils loved the story and asked Dawn questions about being a writer. Dawn passed round cuddly toy versions of her characters, Mabel and Greta, and signed copies of her books.
Dawn also kindly brought in craft supplies and everybody made beautiful flowers and plants using colourful card.
Dawn said, “It’s so important that children start to read for pleasure from a young age. Creativity is important in school, and on the curriculum, so I brought in crafts so we could all enjoy a good story and some crafting fun.”
We regularly welcome visitors across the whole school including authors, scientists, musicians, barristers, magistrates, business leaders and sportspeople, and our wide network of talented Old Scholars, to inspire Mount pupils to be their best and do what they love.
