We are finalists at The Independent School Awards
We are delighted to announce that we have been selected as finalists at the Independent School Awards 2023.
Following our shortlisting earlier this year The Mount School has been selected as finalists for not just one but two prestigious awards. We have been shortlisted alongside five other schools in the ‘Small Independent School of the Year’ category and the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ category.
Small Independent School of the Year
Our recognition in the ‘Small Independent School of the Year’ category matches The Mount’s motto, ‘Fidelis in parvo’ or ‘faithfulness in small things’. It echoes our values as a small, family-led school with large ambitions for our pupils. Mount pupils know that being a small school is not a hindrance; if anything, it encourages pupils to look beyond limitations and see, instead, potential in themselves and the world around them.
The award notes the many opportunities Mount pupils have to test themselves beyond the school gates, such as the MUN for public speaking, regional competitions, academic competitions like the UK Maths Trust, and performing arts contests including the Northern Ballet Competition.
It also acknowledges The Mount’s partnerships with many local bodies bolstering the school’s facilities and enhancing its provision. Collaborations with York City Football Foundation, PV Dance School and Adam’s Aquatics have boosted opportunities for pupils to learn new skills.
Rising Star – Ruby
The Rising Star award recognised former pupil Ruby, who left The Mount this summer. Ruby has been selected as a finalist from 100s of pupils for the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award. The nomination recognised Ruby’s achievements in Rugby, her passion for representing women in the sport, her sportsmanship at School and her dedication to being a Sports Scholar at The Mount. We are incredibly proud of Ruby, who joined The Mount in Junior School – she is currently embedded in pre-season training at University!
The winners will be announced on 10 October 2023 – fingers crossed!
