PV Dance school opens its doors here in new purpose-built studio

This week The Patricia Veale School of Dance opened classes in a new purpose-built dance studio at The Mount School York.

The Patricia Veale School of Dance is one of the most established dance schools in York with an excellent reputation for producing highly trained dancers in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap and modern dance. The school has run for many years in an Acomb-based building and is looking forward to the exciting times ahead in the new Mount studios.

The partnership, announced in July, will see PV Dance run its classes from the new studio with Mount pupils able to access the studios for school use during the day. The dance school is located in The Mount School York’s grounds and accessed via Dalton Terrace. Renovations took several weeks, and the space now comprises of a brand-new purpose-built dance studio, changing rooms, reception area and toilet and kitchen facilities.

PV Dance offers classes for all ages from pre-school, children, teenagers and adults in RAD classical ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance.

Kelly Clarey, Owner and Principal Teacher of PV Dance said: “We are thrilled to be starting 2023 in our new studio. We have worked closely with The Mount School to have our input into creating a modern purpose-built dance studio for PV Dance.

The studio, changing rooms and waiting area have been designed to meet our needs, allowing us to develop our goal of creating enjoyment and creativity in dance movement and encouraging pupils to strive towards a professional level.

We are really delighted with our new home and partnership  with The Mount School who we know share our love of dance and the Arts.”

David Griffiths, Principal added: “I am delighted to welcome Patricia Veale School of Dance to The Mount community. We strongly believe dance and the arts offer our pupils a medium for self-expression, passion, and emotion. The arts provide more than just creativity but develop life skills including confidence, perseverance, and focus. The Mount’s ethos is centred around inspiring and empowering confident young women, and we know that dance and the arts play a key role in this, that is why drama and dance are part of our curriculum and we offer Performing Arts Scholarships. Several of our current Scholars pursue their talents outside of school at PV Dance and I am thrilled to be able provide Kelly and her team with the facilities to develop the dance skills of many more in the wider York community.”

Classes launched at the new studio on the 5th January, to find out more visit https://pvdance.co.uk/
